CMC Blazes The Trail In The Cocoa Industry

Gets First Ever PMSU In Cocobod
                                                                                                       

The Cocoa Industry has witnessed the inauguration of the first ever Professional And Managerial Staff Union of the Industrial And Commercial Workers Union (Ghana) with a call on its newly inducted officers to partner CMC Management to better the lot of first, the cocoa industry and subsequently, the workforce of CMC.The maiden executives of the Union are;

  • Brother Sampson Kwaku Amoako -Chairman
  • Sister (Mrs) Esther Effah Sasu -Vice Chairperson
  • Brother Abdul Anas Mumuni - Secretary
  • Brother Atta Ahenasa Yaw Adams -Assistant Secretary
  • Brother Joseph Obeng Yeboah -Executive Member
  • Sister Ivy Vinyo Konadu -1st Trustee
  • Brother Benjamin Boateng -2nd Trustee

On behalf of the new executives, Brother Amoako the Chairman, noted that the PMSU is just an add up to the already existing groups i.e. the Union and the Senior Staff Association to have a stronger collective voice as a means of working together to better the working conditions of members of staff and not to fight any existing body, adding that, two good heads are better than one.

"We want to assure all associations of our fidelity to the course of championing the collective responsibility of ensuring better working conditions for our members."

He thanked CMC Management for the swiftness with which it responded to the processes leading to the formation and inauguration of the PMSU and promised that, the group will offer unwavering support to Management to steer the affairs of CMC, assuring  to abide by all Company rules.

Brother Amoako emphasised that albeit the task and challenges ahead are daunting, the PMSU is a formidable force that can surmount all encumbrances, calling on all willing Senior Staffers who have not joined the PMSU  to come on board without any further ado, with the inauguration of the Union.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr. John Barnett Quaicoo, who doubles as the acting Deputy Managing Director in charge of marketing, (CMC) remarked that the positive roles of Unions in establishments all over the world cannot be ignored, hence the need for the new Union to always dialogue with Management  and act  more as trouble shooters than troublemakers.

"Gone were the days when  one could not look at the faces of unionised members of staff, which were almost always  grimaced and belligerent. It is all about dialogue now. When we have to find solutions to impasses, let us work together for the collective good of ourselves and members of the group."

Dr, Quaicoo assured the new union of Management's support and co-operation,  paying a glowing tribute to the new executives and describing them as the vanguards who have a lot of work to do to ensure that there is always a peaceful industrial relations between Management and staff.

Taking his turn, the Deputy Managing Director in charge operations, Mr, Daniel Kofi Amoateng accented that CMC is always the first and the best and enjoined the new leadership to stay united, since it is in unity that they can draw the strength to carry out their assignment,
He promised the Union of Management's support at all times, imploring the leadership to contact Management as and when needed.

"Do not hesitate to contact us through suggestions, dialogue and pieces of advice. Our doors are always opened".

The seven member executives were sworn into office by the General Secretary of the ICU, Brother Morgan Ayawine for a four year tenure.
