CMC MD Assesses Operational Performance of Current Crop Season and Readiness for its 24-Hour Operations launch

In a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency within the cocoa sector, the Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (Gh) Ltd, Dr. Wisdom Kofi Dogbey and his team recently conducted a visit to some cocoa Takeover Centers to assess the state of operations in the current cocoa season.

 

The visit was also aimed at evaluating CMC’s performance and readiness to implement a 24-hour operating model in key departments, in line with the vision of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to implement a 24-hour operations across key sectors of the economy. During the visit, the Managing Director engaged directly with team members who are dedicated to ensuring that Ghana's premium cocoa is stored and handled with utmost care.

These discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges and successes faced by the workforce, highlighting the importance of collaboration and motivation in achieving operational excellence.

 

“This visit is crucial for understanding our operational performance and identifying areas for improvement.I am truly inspired by the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by our team members, who share a passion for elevating Ghana’s cocoa industry.” He remarked.

 

Dr. Dogbey revealed that CMC is well-prepared to implement a 24-hour operating model, aimed at revolutionizing warehouse, port and shipping operations. By ensuring around-the-clock availability, CMC seeks to maximize efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service delivery to stakeholders.

 

According to him,this initiative is not just about optimizing internal processes; it also represents a significant advancement for the entire cocoa industry in Ghana, as envisioned by the president, outlining the numerous benefits of a 24-hour operation.  

 

“This model will improve the handling and storage of cocoa, ensuring that our beans maintain its quality and integrity. It will also allow for better inventory management, reducing wastage and losses during peak seasons. By increasing our operational capacity, we can respond more swiftly to market demands and enhance our competitiveness on the global stage.”

 

Moreover, the implementation of this model aligns with CMC’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s cocoa farmers.He added  that, streamlining operations and improving efficiencies will ensure that farmers receive timely payments and support through the Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs), ultimately contributing to their livelihoods and the sustainability of cocoa farming in the country.

 

Reflecting on the visit, Dr. Dogbey expressed optimism about the future of Ghana’s cocoa sector.

“With initiatives like the 24-hour operating model and ongoing initiatives to improve local processing of cocoa beans, we are poised to meet the growing global demand for cocoa and position Ghana as a leader in the cocoa industry.” he opined.

 

As CMC embarks on this new chapter, the Dr. Dogbey reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders and partners to drive growth and innovation in Ghana’s cocoa sector.

 

 “Together, we can create a brighter future for the industry, ensuring that Ghanaian cocoa continues to be recognized for its exceptional quality and value.”
