Shipping Department Undergoes  Operational Review Workshop

A two day workshop has ended at the Bunso Cocoa College in the Eastern Region with a passionate call on members of staff of the Shipping Department to work  harder, even in the face of logistical constraints.

 

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Deputy Managing Director in charge of operations of the Cocoa Marketing Company, (Gh) Ltd. Mr. Jamal Konneh noted that, the Shipping Department is  a pivotal department in the operations of the cocoa industry and its roles  cannot be overlooked, adding that the industry has to be grown.

 

"We need to grow the industry and grow it well and that cannot be done without  inputs from the shipping department.

 

He showered encomiums on the department, together with the Quality Control Company, (QCC) noting that in the value chain of the smooth export of cocoa beans, Quality Control Company, the WPO department and the shipping department should work in tandem and timeously for the delivery of cocoa to buyers at the right time.

 

Mr. Konneh implored staffers of the Shipping Department to be disciplined, as indiscipline  will not be tolerated, advising them to ship every shippable cocoa bean so that all members of staff can  enjoy  at the end of every  month. He assured them of Management's support, as far as some of their logistical constraints are concerned.

 

"You are the backbone of the Company and by extension, the cocoa industry. I urge you to be disciplined as we Management work to improve upon your welfare. Ship every shippable cocoa bean so that we can all enjoy the benefits" he opined.

 

On her part, the Senior Shipping Manager, Mrs. Comfort  Ayisibea Abanquah paid tribute to the Shipping Department for working hard, irrespective of their logistical inadequacies. 

She further minced no words in encouraging them to work even harder, as hard work breaks no bones, promising Management of her Department's support.

 

Mrs.  Abanquah noted that a worker can be effective, but if the resources with which he or she works  are not available or inadequate, working becomes difficult. She consequently urged Management to increase the Department's computers, scanners, chairs etc.to enable them work better.

 

Messrs Ebenezer Akuamoah Boateng, Harrison Carboo Ocansey and Irene Abla Gavor, Deputy Shipping Managers of of the Takoradi,Kumsi and Tema Takeover Centres enumerated some of the problems encumbering their operations and called upon Management to as a matter of urgency, deal with these problems.
